About Us
Orchard Recruitment was founded on the Isle of Man in 2002.
Not with a mission statement. With a question: why does recruitment so often get it wrong? The answer, then as it is now, the market generally processes people to complete a transaction. It treats people as a unit of measurement. You are not a commodity and we are not traders. We listen, with curiosity we understand you and where you will thrive. We know that when organisations have the right people in the right roles, individules, organisations and the island thrive. We invest our attention on that value and know it extends beyond a number. That perceptiveness has defined our longevity.

Where we work
The Isle of Man is home
We know the organisations here, the people who lead them and the culture inside them. We know the difference between a role that looks right and a role that is right.
The Isle of Man professional community is one we know well. It is well known we are connected by three and often less. Over twenty years of experience, we know that relationships are the fuel that drive it. Growing and thriving in a close knit business community, we understand discretion.
Our commitment
Our first priority
The best outcome for the people involved. Candidate or client, that principle does not change.
Sometimes that means pointing someone toward a role we cannot fill, or toward another agency with the right opening. We do that. We would rather be honest about what serves you best than appear more useful than we are.
On a small island, that honesty is both the right thing to do and, over 24 years, the foundation of everything we have built.
Our history
How we have grown
Our core focus has always been finance and technology. The sectors we work across today reflect 24 years of consistincy and attention on the things that matter. Clients who relied on us in one discipline brought us new challenges in others.
We are not a generalist agency. We work with people who know what they are looking for. Our role is to understand what that is and find the right match.
Sectors we recruit in
Accounting & Finance
Accounting and finance is where Orchard began and remains our deepest area of specialism. We place professionals across the full range of finance functions: from part-qualified accountants to senior finance directors, from fund administrators to group financial controllers.
We understand the qualifications, the structures and the expectations of organisations operating in financial services on the Isle of Man. We also understand what distinguishes a technically strong candidate from one who will genuinely work within a particular team and culture.
Regulatory Compliance
Compliance professionals carry significant responsibility. The organisations that employ them depend on their judgement, their knowledge of the regulatory environment and their ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.
We place compliance officers, MLRO professionals, risk managers and regulatory affairs specialists across financial services, insurance and technology businesses operating on the Isle of Man and beyond. We understand the frameworks that govern this work and the qualities that make a compliance hire genuinely effective rather than merely credentialed.
Cyber Security
Cyber security is one of the fastest-moving disciplines in the professional market. The threats change constantly. The skills required to address them change with them.
We place security analysts, penetration testers, information security managers and security architects. We work with organisations that take their security posture seriously and need people who can operate with a high degree of independence and technical confidence. We take the time to understand the specific environment before we begin, because a cyber security hire that is wrong for the culture is almost as problematic as one that is wrong on paper.
Legal
Legal hiring requires precision. Whether the role sits in a commercial practice, a criminal firm or a conveyancing team, the expectations are specific and the consequences of a poor match are significant.
We place solicitors, legal executives, paralegals and support professionals across commercial law, criminal law and conveyancing. We understand the difference between these practice areas and we do not treat them as interchangeable. A candidate who is right for a commercial dispute practice is not automatically right for a conveyancing team and we approach every brief with that in mind.
Engineering
Engineering placements demand a clear understanding of the technical environment. A candidate who looks right on a specification sheet may not work in a particular team and a candidate whose CV undersells them may be exactly what the brief requires.
We place mechanical design engineers and electrical and mechanical engineers across a range of industries and project types. We take the time to understand the technical context, the tools in use and the culture of the team before we begin our search.
Technology & Telecoms
Technology hiring requires an understanding of how quickly the discipline changes and how differently organisations define the roles within it. We place professionals across development, infrastructure, project delivery and technology leadership.
We work with organisations at different stages of their technology capability, from those building teams for the first time to those seeking specific senior expertise. We take the time to understand the environment before we begin. The right hire depends as much on context as it does on capability.
Digital Forensics & Forensic Accounting
Digital forensics and forensic accounting sit at the intersection of professional expertise and investigative rigour. The people who work in these disciplines are not generalists. They are highly trained, often hold specialist qualifications and are trusted with sensitive matters.
We place professionals across digital investigation, electronic discovery, financial fraud analysis and litigation support. We understand the standards required by the organisations and legal practices that commission this work and we take the same care in matching a candidate to a brief as those candidates take in their own work.
Property & Architecture
The built environment requires professionals who combine technical knowledge with an understanding of process, client management and the demands of a project-driven industry.
We place across a broad range of property and architecture disciplines. Our placements include construction project managers and site managers, quantity surveyors, architects, architectural technicians and planning consultants. Each of these roles carries distinct requirements and we approach each one with the same care for the specifics of the discipline.
